Taking account of genomics in quantitative microbial risk assessment: what methods? what issues?

چکیده

The application of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to the risk assessment foodborne pathogens is a key challenge. WGS offers highest level strain discrimination for more precise hazard identification, characterization and exposure leading deeper characterization. Genome‐wide association studies represent today powerful tools identification associations between genomic elements microbial phenotypic properties. Other cutting-edge include machine learning or statistical methods characterize phenotype distribution on phylogenetic tree. A panorama available presented as well specific issues associated with these phenotypes interest assessment. • Numerous are identify markers pathogen phenotypes, complexity acquiring challenges methods, First applications in MRA show concept precision food safety.

Sensitivity analysis in quantitative microbial risk assessment.

The occurrence of foodborne disease remains a widespread problem in both the developing and the developed world. A systematic and quantitative evaluation of food safety is important to control the risk of foodborne diseases. World-wide, many initiatives are being taken to develop quantitative risk analysis. However, the quantitative evaluation of food safety in all its aspects is very complex, ...

What is Microbiological Risk Assessment?

In the past decade, the Food Safety discipline has addressed the assessment of hazards in foods within the framework of Risk Analysis, a new science-based paradigm intended to guarantee human health protection contemplated by EU legislation (Reg.178/2002). The objectives of risk analysis are to estimate the risk to human health of a hazard associated with food consumption; and most importantly,...

Understanding what works and what doesn't in reducing adolescent sexual risk-taking.

Family Planning Perspectives Family dynamics and attachment also play a role: If parents appropriately supervise and monitor their children, and if the adolescents feel connected to their parents, they are less likely to engage in sexual risk-taking. Family values about sexual behavior and contraceptive use, and family sexual behaviors, also have an impact on the adolescents’ behavior. Moreover...

What caused what? An irreducible account of actual causation

Actual causation is concerned with the question “what caused what?”. Consider a transition between two subsequent observations within a system of elements. Even under perfect knowledge of the system, a straightforward answer to this question may not be available. Counterfactual accounts of actual causation based on graphical models, paired with system interventions, have demonstrated initial su...

What drives China’s Current Account?∗

The paper offers an empirical taxonomy of the factors driving China’s current account. A simple present-value model with non-tradeable goods explains more than 70 percent of current account variability over the period 1982–2007, including the persistent surpluses since 2001. It also correctly predicts the decline of China’s current account since 2008. Expected increases in the prices of non-tra...
